Created in 1995, vanCollier began as an antique and design company. For over 15 years, Beth van Dorp Collier and Chris Collier have collaborated on numerous projects, ranging from interior design to infill development. With influences from antiquity to contemporary design, vanCollier has taken their vision to the next step and is designing a line of custom furniture and accessories. Creations include Art Nouveau inspirations to a twist on Southern culture. Currently in the works are an upholstery line and outdoor line. All of their pieces merge modern design and classical details and are manufactured by artists and artisans in North Carolina. Collections include metal, wood, lighting and accessories. Their focus is offering custom pieces based on their curated designs tailored to the needs of clients. vanCollier is located in a historic hospital of Georgian design built in 1907 in the original Washington, North Carolina.
Beth started her career as an art museum curator in 1990 and continued her passion for the arts by serving on the museum’s acquisitions committee for seven years after stepping down from her position as curator. Chris began his career as manager of an antiques auction house in eastern North Carolina and later as a developer of historical residential infill developments. They reside in historic Washington, North Carolina in the old Tayloe Hospital which they converted into their home and studio.
